Hi there and welcome to my first ever blog and that of the little EGG craft company!
At the beginning of 2013, I wrote a list of things I would like to have done with the little EGG craft company by the end of the year. Being completely disorganised, I abandoned (or should I say lost) the list some time ago but I do remember that starting a blog was one of them. Better late than never! Don’t worry, for 2014 I will write things down in my lovely new organiser I bought myself!
I thought since it is the end of the year it would be a good time to reflect on the little EGG craft company’s first whole year in operation and the things we have achieved in that time.
We have taken part in 3 craft fairs this year in March, June and December, all at the Winter Gardens and all organised by the wonderful Dotty Delightful who organises over 100 stalls, a tea room and live entertainment each time. She completes this whilst having a day job running her own business and being a mum, I couldn’t do it!

Each time we have had beautiful cards made by Jeannie to sell along with our wares, the poor thing sold so many Mothers Day cards in March on the Saturday she was up well into the night making more for the Sunday! We have also been next to Bob for each craft fair, who sells candles and always makes us laugh. We were (or should I say I was) lucky enough to have my photo taken with one of our craft fair exclusive shopping bags for the Gazette for the June craft fair. I was so pleased with how the photograph was and so grateful to some friends who bought me a copy as my husband, my daughter and myself went holidaying in the Lake District straight after the craft fair finished on the Sunday. We now have a lovely band of followers who look for us at each craft fair. We also couldn’t have been present at each fair if it wasn’t for our Dad/husband and Jeannie’s husband, David for taking us, picking us up and providing bacon butties! And also to Doreen and Joy for all your help manning the stall on more than one occasion, we really appreciate it and couldn’t do it without you. |
This year has also seen the launch of a new look website, mainly thanks to the launch of our Sterling Silver jewellery collection. Using beautiful Swarovski crystals and sterling silver, I aim to make something to treasure forever but to be able to wear every day. It was nice being so busy in the run up to Christmas and knowing that someone would be opening something made by me on Christmas morning, some pieces being very unique, being designed by the gift giver and me.
We were very proud at the end of last year as our Dad/husband, John had his first book published. Blackpool, Then and Now is a lovely collection of old postcards along with a picture of the same view as it is now and a brief history on the location. He had a book signing in Waterstone’s, Blackpool in February and was very settled in when we went to visit him with a big mug of coffee and a packet of chocolate biscuits! His book went to the top of the bestseller’s list in that branch that day which he was very proud of. (No we didn't buy all the copies!)
As for 2014... there are a few new product launches in the pipeline. Some having been tested by myself over the last few weeks (you have to do these things!) and some being made in to Christmas presents to see how they easy they are to make. What are they? Well you’ll just have to wait and see!
Happy New Year!
